Uncle Sam’s Bombastic (USB) Drive

Originally written 9 November, 2009

You walk into your desk room one morning to read your email. As you turn the PC on, you notice the glaring logo on the screen that lightly burns your eyes. It reads “Federal Communications Commission Legal, Neutral Network.” you’re very happy at reading this due to the fact that you had just passed the exam for the federal and state network use permits last week. You get the same feeling you had when you got your driver’s license or when you turned 21 and could drink. As you read your email, you see that your cousin has sent you something, you open it. Her message tells you about this new software released a month ago. It’s a new firewall that finds spam and redirects it at the spammer in the network. It has gotten a lot of praise and recommendation. You download it, thinking this is your first smart move as an alert, licensed network user. The downloader reaches 100%, and the install program opens. After about fifteen minutes of installing the program, the PC inexplicably shuts off. You’re confused, what has happened to your computer? Most importantly, what did you do wrong? All the sudden, the power line to your house is cut off; you hear a loud bang and the sound of boots running up the stairs of your house. The door to your desk room is broken off the hinges with an ax, assault rifles and handguns burst into the room, directed at you. “Federal Agents! Put your hands in the air!” You comply; they cuff you and haul your PC away. Later in the week, you are charged and convicted of disrupting a ‘free’ and ‘neutral’ network of the FCC. You spend the next six years in federal lock up and the twenty years after that on parole.

As the Internet has progressed, it has become one of the largest, and probably most important, things that ever occurred in history. It is a network, upon another network, upon another network, upon another chain of networks that eventually adds up to one large clustered network… of networks. It has morphed into the last bastion of free speech, laissez faire capitalism, and the private sector. But, there is an issue, what is better for freedom on the Internet, neutrality or competition? Will government regulation ‘save’ the Internet, or would continued privatization preserve our freedom? This is another classic political war between the private and public sectors. But what is the reality of this situation? Well, the reality is, a private, unregulated Internet has worked in the past, is still working in our present, and will keep working to improve our lives in the future. As a matter of fact, as it currently is, a free and unregulated

Internet could improve our economy, and possibly even get us out of this recession. More succinctly, capitalism, or specifically the idea of individual rights to life, liberty, and property, has always been the best economic and social system and the Internet is sheer proof of that.

One side of this argument, the regulation crowd, has cried for years about ‘saving’ (or what they believe to be saving) our freedom on the Internet. In their thinking process, their deviated version of logic informs them that since we need to save the Internet, we should just make everything ‘neutral’ (because neutral is just a really nice sounding word that conjures up thoughts of peace doves and hallucinating ‘free love’ hippies dancing to The Mamas & Papas). The following statement, made a week after the FCC had overstepped its bounds concerning the Internet, shows the true nature of regulation crowd argument “As the Internet continues to evolve, we are now faced with a choice. Can we preserve this wildly successful medium and the freedom it embodies, or do we permit a few large corporations to fundamentally alter how the Internet has historically functioned? Do we retain a level playing field or do we allow the imposition of new fees and the artificial creation of slow lanes and fast lanes for content providers on the Internet?” (Markey). However, even though Mr. Markey is fearful of these corporations ‘altering’ how the Internet fundamentally functions, he does not remind us of how all the big corporations like Amazon, Google, Yahoo!, Vonage, Microsoft, eBay, and many others are all in favor of net neutrality. So then, as we can see, instead of investment by everyone on the Internet, we would get investment of an elite few corporations (that the government has approved of) on the Internet. Can this be called neutrality?

The other side, the anti-regulation crowd, disagrees completely. To paraphrase Proudhon, competition is the mother of neutrality. Competition is trying to make a better product or provide a better service then everyone else so that people will want to buy your work. They enjoy the work you have made, and you enjoy what your work has earned you. This is a simple trader principle. Competition is freedom, forced neutrality is not. We have been fine on the Internet without government regulation. Opponents to net neutrality say views like Congressman Markey’s are “Setting a new international example of government Net interference rather than restraint.” (NetCompetition.org)

Complete deregulation, along with more privatization of the Internet and the gradual creation of a cyber-centric market economy are what this country, and the world, needs. Complete deregulation creates more freedom for users of the internet to create, share, sell, and buy in a stable market with vast choice and possibility. More privatization of Internet based services can create new jobs for those who need them, and possibly decrease the unemployment rate. All of this could possibly lead us to a cyber-centric market economy. Since the Internet has shown signs of increasing prosperity over the years, a market based off of the cyber world would boost our economy from recession to stability, without need of government bailouts or stimulus plans. All around, the free, unregulated, privatized Internet makes everything better for anyone.

With its prosperity, with its ability to better our daily and long term lives, the Internet is proof that a free market, a capitalist system works. The Internet will strive on because of capitalism into the decades, and even centuries. The Internet however will die in government regulation and control. The government, or anyone for that matter, posses no right to force its way onto something that we’ve all labored with by our own means and take complete, overriding control.

How would the government ‘control’, the Internet anyways? It’s a multi-national entity, spans the globe, reaching every nationality. So how can the government take control over something that is literally everywhere, much like oxygen? I feel they simply think too highly of themselves. I mean, the Internet is already regulated in a way. The Internet Society, The Internet Architecture Board, Internet Engineering Task Force, InterNIC, PFIR-People for Internet Responsibility, and ICANN.org all have a hand in deciding how Internet related issues are handled (Boswell). But these are not overly bureaucratic government regulators; they are more like private industry ethics boards. More proof that the Internet is fine by itself. On another note, I’d like to point out that the Internet isn’t always that capitalistic. For example, read this statement back in 2001, “The users of the internet are spoiled rotten and expect that most everything on the internet not actually delivered by UPS, should be free. It is human nature to expect good things to continue despite clear signs of change. I was amused to read the reaction of some Napster users who, upon hearing that Napster is changing its economic model to a fee based version, lamented that they would have to search for another way to continue to download music for free. Napster is facing the fact that the rules of intellectual property laws extend to the internet.” (Mills). Piracy is a known coercive evil on the Internet, and it should be stopped. It is not a result of the Internet’s lack of control; rather it is a result of a careless individual’s lack of respect for property rights, even intellectual ones.

With an Ensign to Fight Under

by Maverick W., Libertarian Defense Caucus Co-Chairman

The 11th of September, 2009…

The first time…

We say “No.”

We say “No.” to Oligarchy, we say “No.” to bullying us into it, we say “No.” to murder, and we say “No.” to the Law of insecure Collectivists who claim to represent the Muslim population. You see the truth is, when any of these Collectivists claim to represent Muslims around the world or that their political ideology is Islam itself — we know they are outright lying. For they are the true enemies of all Muslims everywhere. Every time they open their mouths, every time they kill or attack innocents and children, every time they indoctrinate school kids, they make things worse for Muslims everywhere. So how may I ask do we stop these liars from festering? The answer is there, you just need to find it. All Muslims around the world need to stand up for themselves, stand up and say “No.” to these liars, these Collectivists, these… Tangos. The answer to peace and freedom is inside all of you, you just need to reject them.

To the victims and families of 9/11 and all victims of terrorist attacks around the world, fight. I can’t make that any more clear. You need to fight. If you don’t, the Tangos who committed 9/11 have won their military objective — your subjugation to their will. Your sons, daughters, husbands, wives, etc. were all killed to make you submit to their campaign to establish the global tyrannical Oligarchy they call the “Caliphate”. You, shall not allow them their Caliphate, their Tyranny. This is an obligation to the dead the defenseless, and the violated. Fulfill it, and you shall shed blood, sweat, and tears, fail at it, and you shall wither away your life, liberty, and property, the very freedoms that you were born with. I hope and pray that all of you will find peace from your loved one’s murder, and that you shall see a final justice against this atrocity. I mourn with you.

The years will follow, the days will bleed away, and I will never forget. I will eat, I will breathe, and I will think. That is what it meant for me. In my life, it shall be a conflict of the American Ensign against the false Flag of Jihad, their Flag of Irhab. That’s right, Jihad in denotes holy war, thus a legitimization of what they do, at least for those who are religious. Irhab denotes what their actions really are, terrorism. I shall break their black flag’s pole, and their banner shall fall to the ground, Qutb’s putsch dieing with it. I promise this to all of you, with an Ensign to fight under.

(Sorry for the long lull in posting here at LDC, we will be working on getting the site going again.)

Declaration of the Better Libertarian Platform

DECLARATION OF THE BETTER LIBERTARIAN PLATFORM

2009

PREAMBLE

  • The Libertarian Party’s platform essentially would sustain and rebuild the freedom the Constitution gave us, but it would then do nothing to defend that Constitution or freedom from aggressors.
  • The Libertarian Party doesn’t care when individual freedom is infringed somewhere else in the world. Yet they complain of the U.S. infringing freedom across the world when we intervene, we are at a loss with this stance. Do they care about the freedom of humanity or don’t they?
  • The Libertarian Party does not represent what libertarianism was intended for, nor does it represent the broad libertarian movement at all, this needs to change.
  • The Libertarian Party does not represent the Constitution, the Founders, the Republic, freedom, liberty, John Locke, Thomas Paine nor any other undeniable virtue or patriot. We draft this declaration in order to bring them back to true freedom, liberty, and justice.

THE DECLARATION

We, the Libertarian Defense Caucus, on this day of independence, in order to attain a more perfect liberty loving political party, make ourselves declarants of,

  • LAISSEZ-FAIRE FREE MARKETS – The government has no right to infringe or constrain the economic freedom of law-abiding individuals nor the free market in this country.
  • RUGGED INDIVIDUALISM – ‘Group rights’, or so they are called, do not exist because groups do not really exist, there are only individuals. Any legislation that is made to advance the ‘rights’ of a group only infringes the rights of individuals.
  • LIBERAL NEUTRALITY – Government should not promote any one kind of conception of the good. It promotes ideal of thinking, belief, or what the fulfillment of life is.
  • NIGHT WATCHMAN STATE – The ideal state is one that is minimized to the point where, if it where any smaller, would become a form of anarchy. Such a state’s only purpose in her existence is to protection of the natural rights to our life, liberty, and property.
  • AN INTERPLAY – We advocate a state actor that has very innovative, capable and effective military forces at its disposal for national defense, reactive and pro-active actions against threats to said nation’s citizens, its interest(s), foreign allies, the balance of power and the maximization of individual freedom. It must look to constantly improve itself militarily, tactically, and strategically in the terms pointed out in Sun Tzu’s Art of War.  It also encourages its citizens to help in their own overall individual defense. As an arbiter of her survivability, her people’s state of society, and individual liberty, she should be bound by the same moral rules as individuals are in everyday life when confronted with violent criminals, and the Constitution. Also, those of us at the LDC advocate a minimization of international law and organizations and an abolition of all trade barriers between peoples.
  • VETERANS’ SUFFRAGE – We support an increase in the societal vigilance and advocacy relating to the medical, financial, legacy, and overall well-being of our military families, veterans and active defenders of liberty out in action today.

We, the Libertarian Defense Caucus, hold these tenets to be true, factual, and self-evident towards freedom, the Constitution, and libertarianism/classical liberalism.

We, the Libertarian Defense Caucus,  an institution composed of small-l-libertarians, Big-L-Libertarians, Republicans, and Classical Liberals, and we declare these tenets to be the Better Libertarian Platform for the Libertarian Party of the United States of America. It shall be the only platform we rcognize as Libertarian. All other platforms are recognized as “un-Libertarian”.

For Neda from the Libertarian Defense Caucus

She was killed by Islamofascists, she died for liberty and justice.

“Neda” means “the call” or “the voice” in Farsi.

A “Promotion”

Hello everyone, it’s your humble neolibertarian Maverick W.

I am proud to announce that I have been “promoted” from an O’rourkean style website administrator to Co-Chairman of the Libertarian Defense Caucus!

Of course, nothing is different, it’s just shiney label to write down on a name tag at some political convention, but then again I do take this very seriously. But don’t worry, as most seriousness is funny, most jokes are very serious. So… yeah.

I have a lot of plans for LDC, including:

  • An official discussion board where anyone can sign up,  post, talk about what they think, organize political efforts, and such.
  • Our caucus’s official youtube channel called Liberty Defense Media where we will make frequent video statements, political advertisements, announcements, and basically what is on the caucus members’ minds.
  • And finally we’re hoping to start a big contribution campaign to the Warrior Legacy Foundation.

Please comment and tell us if you guys would like to contribute anything to any of three project we got going. I’d always welcome any volunteer admins, moderators, video editors, or commentators for the discussion board or youtube channel.

I’m so ronery, so ronery, so ronery and sadry arone…

North Korean Daffy-Duck fan, Lamborghini aficionado and fascist maniac Kim JongIl has been a busy boy lately.

With the launching of short range missiles on Memorial Day, an underground Nuclear test, and the blatant kidnapping American journalists (ironically employed by an agency owned by Al Gore), it seems Dear Leader is a little… ronery? Or maybe it’s just that Arrec Bardrin is worthress.Who knows why… but the important question is, what is Obama doing about it?

Well, pretty much, nothing. He just loves appeasing Dear Leader!

Basically this is what Obama “strong” and “well thought out” defense against North Koreans is a letter to Pyongyang telling the DPRK how angry and upset they are… Well call out the parades everybody! Obama is saving us! HOPE AND CHANGE!

For a visual representation of Obama appeasement to North Korean tyrannical fascism, watch this video about Hans Blix using the Obama method:

Islamism and school children

Islamist organization, the Taliban has now apparently engaged in bioterrorism with a WMD.

Various international media are reporting on a serious incident from yesterday in northern Afghanistan. There are conflicting reports and numbers of injuries, but as many as 50 teenage girls have been admitted to a nearby hospital with various illnesses and ailments resulting from an apparent gassing.

“I am pretty sure whoever has done this is against education for girls, but I strongly ask the parents not to be discouraged by such brutal action and send their children to school,” said Noor Jahan, a ninth grader at Ura Jalili Girls’ High School.

In another room a mother sat beside her unconscious daughter’s bed, crying and rubbing the girl’s forehead. Around her lay several dazed and pale schoolmates.

“I was in a lesson when suddenly two classmates lost consciousness and collapsed,” said Nabila, a 21-year-old in one of the beds. Years of war and unrest mean children often finish school late in Afghanistan.

COUNTER TERRORISM BLOG

I suggest all members of the LDC and all who ideologically align themselves with us, and hell, even you non-interventionists (pro-appeasers) should read the link above.

It is a document outlining the farces, inconsistencies and errors made by pro-appeasers.

Now, before you comment below with remarks such as “neocon propaganda” “warmongering bullshit” “racist and bigoted analysis” ask yourselves – Am I absolutely right no matter what in this particular argument? Are those who disagree with me on this ALWAYS wrong concerning the subject? If you answer “no” to both, then you’re on your way to thinking for yourself. If you answered “yes” to both then you’re just another tool for some politically motivated asshole from some website like “Antiwar.com” who is marching you around the Internet and protests filled with name calling, propaganda, and lies for whatever they happen to think is a good idea. You are not thinking for yourself, and you practically just like the neocons you hate. No difference at all between neoconservatives, pro-appeasement ideologies, and “purist” libertarians.

“What makes a free thinker is not his beliefs, but the way in which he holds them. If he holds them because his elders told him they were true when he was young, or if he holds them because if he did not he would be unhappy, his thought is not free; but if he holds them because, after careful thought, he finds a balance in their favor, then his thought is free, however odd his conclusions may seem.”

—Bertrand Russell, “The Value of Free Thought”

“Dogma demands authority, rather than intelligent thought, as the source of opinion; it requires persecution of heretics and hostility to unbelievers; it asks of its disciples that they should inhibit natural kindness in favor of systematic hatred.”

—Bertrand Russell, quoted from Laird Wilcox, ed., “The Degeneration of Belief”

Remember, we are the libertarians who want to oppose and fight against totalitarians abroad who would create fascistic theocratic governments and bring terror here in the U.S., you guys are the “libertarians” who want to sit back and appease fascistic theocrats the likes of Adolf Hitler that would take over world governments and send terrorist cells in into our hometowns and cities in hopes of creating a gloabal totalitarian state ruled with an iron fist by a “Caliphate” or king – I guess in someway or some universe you think that is “libertarianism”.

To all libertarians who still support Gravel…

CRANK DAT TRAITOR!

Always good to have some laughs with a man who tries to keep a confesed terrorist from being punished for murder “in the name of the constitution”.

Even though the constitution says the rights and freedom of America’s citizens must be protected from being infringed by out side or domestic forces.

Yeah….

To the radical libertarians who still don’t understand why we believe there is a War on Terror, please read these quotes from George Washington, John Locke and John Stuart Mill.

ON WAR:

“If we desire to avoid insult, we must be able to repel it; if we desire to secure peace, one of the most powerful instruments of our rising prosperity, it must be known, that we are at all times ready for War.” –Washington

“War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.” –Mill

“To be prepared for war is one of the most effective means of preserving peace.” –Washington

ON LIBERTY:

“Laws made by common consent must not be trampled on by individuals.” –Washington

“Some day, following the example of the United States of America, there will be a United States of Europe.”-Washington

“The Constitution is the guide which I never will abandon.” -Washington

ON TERRORISM

“The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves.” –Washington

“[A]s every man has a power to punish the crime, to prevent its being committed again, by the right he has of preserving all mankind, and doing all reasonable things he can in order to that end: and thus it is, that every man, in the state of nature, has a power to kill a murderer, both to deter others from doing the like injury, which no reparation can compensate, by the example of the punishment that attends it from every body, and also to secure men from the attempts of a criminal, who having renounced reason, the common rule and measure God hath given to mankind, hath, by the unjust violence and slaughter he hath committed upon one, declared war against all mankind, and therefore may be destroyed as a lion or a tyger, one of those wild savage beasts, with whom men can have no society nor security… “- Locke

“Liberty is to be free from restraint and violence from others” –Locke (this also overlaps with liberty)

There you have it fake libertarians, this is what true libertarianism is about, and what it origonally meant. I feel you need to start getting that through your heads.
